Some difficult going, very steep climb. A botanical rarity of Luxembourg is without doubt the Ahn Palmberg. Its name reveals why it merits a visit. Known throughout the country,
the box tree has just one unique natural area of growth: the Palmberg. This dry area is also home to several varieties of orchid, as well as a number of rare protected plants.
True nature fans can admire these beauties in their natural habitat, knowing that these plants cannot be pulled up and replanted since they would inevitably die. A walk through
the Palmberg offers splendid views over the River Moselle and the village of Ahn. From the Cell there is a wonderful panoramic view of the wine-growers' village of Niederdonven.
Botanical studies on the Palmberg should be concluded in the cool cellars of a wine producer, where wine from the Palmberg vineyards can be enjoyed. |
